Leadership Thoughts:
I believe there are five key characteristics of an effective, thereby good leader. A good leader must be experienced; this is the base of the pyramid. A good leader is credible. He/she is believable and can earn the trust of others: peers, constituents and supervisors alike. This an absolutely necessary characteristic of a leader. A good leader has a vision of a better way, and can describe that better way to his/her constituents. A good leader inspires his/her team to perform towards mission accomplishment. And finally, a good leader is courageous. This is necessary in order to challenge the status quo to move to the new improved state that the leader has envisioned.

Stay in step (we should disagree behind close doors, but come out singing the same song)
Practice Kaizen (if we aren't getting better, we are probably deteriorating)
seek feedback (from the data, people, and even the environment)
serve as a positive influence (if we aren't bettering conditions we are not hitting the mark)
