What is it?

There are four conditions that serve as indicators of risk for metabolic sydrone:

1. Extra fat around the abdomen

2. High levels of blood glucose (sugar) when not eating

3. High levels of triglycerides (a type of fat) in the blood

4. Low levels of high-density lipoproteins (a type of protein that carries fats) in the blood, as well as high blood pressure.

The intent of this page is to provide information regarding a health concern in the nation.  I have chosen to highlight metabolic syndrone

Why should we care about this condition?

Over $2.8T is spent annually in America treating chronic health care conditions.  People with metabolic syndrome are at increased risk of diabetes mellitus and heart disease.  It appears to be a precursor for developing these specific chronic conditions.  These current high costs for treating mostly preventable diseases seems unsustainable if we wish to obtain economic stability.

Metabolic Syndrome

1.  This condition is also known as insulin resistance.

2.  Excessive carbohydrates have been linked to insulin resistance.

3.  Poor sleeping habits, lack of adequate sleep can also be associated.

4.  Strength straining and cardiovascular respiratory conditioning may help reduce the effects.
